The CORAL-8 liquid media flow meters are designed to measure the flow of various liquids in pipelines when conducting commercial and technological accounting of liquids in the housing and communal services, food industry, chemical and petrochemical industries, energy, including nuclear, in ship conditions, during transportation and accounting of petroleum products, and in other areas of the national economy.
Ultrasonic multipath time-pulse flowmeters. The principle of operation is based on the difference in the time of passage of ultrasound along the flow and against the flow.

The flowmeters meet the requirements for electromagnetic compatibility in an electromagnetic environment of medium rigidity according to performance group III and the quality of operation A.
According to the number of output signals, the flow meters are two-channel with digital and analog outputs.
The connection to the digital output must be carried out via the RS 485 interface using a special information exchange protocol.
The method of verification of flow meters provides for the possibility of verification without dismantling from the object of operation.
Flow meters are produced according to the technical specifications of AGТS.407251.002 TU.
The flow meters have a multi-block and single-block design.
Flowmeters of multi-block design consist of a primary converter PP-1 (PP-3 or PP-6), depending on the design of the flowmeter, a secondary converter VP-1 (VP-3 or VP-6), a connecting communication cable with a primary converter KS-1-1 (KS-1-3 or KS-1-6), a connecting communication cable with a secondary converter KS-2-1 (KS-2-3 or KS-2-6), a transition coupling M-4 (M-12 or M-24).
Single-block flowmeters consist of a primary converter PP-1 (PP-3 or PP-6), structurally combined with a secondary converter VP-1 (O) (VP-3(O) or VP-6 (O)).
The adapter coupling is designed to ensure the passage of the cable through sealed bulkheads. On request, it is possible to supply flow meters without a coupling with one KS-1 communication cable.
