Reflectometric level gauges KRU-1R (-1RV)

The principle of operation of the level gauge is based on the method of pulse reflectometry, which consists in transmitting a short electric pulse along a long line, which is reflected when it reaches inhomogeneity (the interface of media).

The composition of the level meters includes primary and secondary converters. The primary converter can have a monoblock design.

The primary converter contains an installation flange, on which a sensitive element is fixed with the help of a special insulator, which is a waveguide, the length of which determines the level measurement range.

The secondary converter provides power to the primary converter, an indication of the output signal and interfacing with upper-level systems via the RS485 interface.

The KRU-1R reflectometric level gauges are designed for continuous measurement of the level of liquid media.

Depending on the operating conditions, the level gauges have versions that differ:

  • the measurement range;
  • the value of the working pressure of the measured medium;
  • the design of the primary converter (coaxial, cable, two-rod).
Level measurement range
up to 9 m
Limits of the permissible basic error
± 5; ± 10 mm
Temperature of the measured media
from -50 to +300 °C
Pressure of the measured medium
up to 25 MPa
Output signals
- visual, on the digital display of the secondary converter;
- digital via the RS-485 interface
Ambient temperature
from -10 to +55 °C
Ambient humidity at a temperature of 50 °C (without dew loss)
up to 100%
DC voltage of the electric power supply
27 V

The level gauges have a special design, which includes:

  • built-in channel for direct measurement of the temperature of the measured medium;
  • channels for calculating (indirect method) volume and mass.
