The nuclear submarine «Kazan» has arrived at the Northern Fleet

On June 1, the fourth-generation nuclear submarine «Kazan» of the «Yasen-M» project, built on Sevmash, arrived at the permanent base of the Northern Fleet. Mikhail Budnichenko, General Director of Sevmash, the company’s management, and members of the delivery team were present at the ship’s departure from Severodvinsk.

According to the press service of the Northern Fleet, on the pier at the SF base, submariners were met by the chief of staff of the Northern Fleet, Rear Admiral Vladimir Vorobyov, representatives of the command of the Red Banner Submarine Forces of the Northern Fleet, the closed administrative-territorial formation of Zaozersk.

The commander, Captain of the 1st rank Alexander Beketov, reported that the tasks of the interbase transition were completed in full by the crew, the material part of the ship is serviceable, the personnel are healthy and ready to perform the tasks set. Recall that the solemn ceremony of admission to the Russian Navy of the nuclear-powered submarine «Kazan» was held on May 7 at Sevmash under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. As the general director of the enterprise Mikhail Budnichenko noted at the event, the ship has successfully passed all stages of testing, the submarine has been tested in all modes. «Kazan» spent more than 200 days at sea. During this time, the submariners thoroughly mastered the ship.

The submarine of the «Yasen-M» project was developed by the Malakhit design Bureau and has effective shock and electronic weapons, which allows performing tasks in all areas of the World Ocean. «Kazan» – the lead submarine of this project was laid down at JSC «PO «Sevmash» in the city of Severodvinsk on July 24, 2009, launched on March 31, 2017.*
